Children’s Sabbath Service and Pageant

A Letter From Your Pastor, May 14, 2008

Priscilla McDoodleNut DoodleMcMae

Children’s Sabbath Service and Pageant

“The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid…and a little child shall lead them.” Isaiah 11: 6

From Pastor Kennetha Bigham-Tsai

The prophet Isaiah envisioned a time when all of God’s creation would live in harmony and goodwill--and, a little child would lead the way to this place of peace. That time is not yet in our world, but it is a time that we can imagine and for which we pray. It is a time, in particular, that we will imagine together this coming Sunday, May 18.

Our children, joined by award-winning author Janet Mary Sinke, will enact a story about a little girl named Priscilla who stands up to kings to ask, “Why?” This little girl challenges them and us to erase the divisive lines we draw in the sand and to join hands with those who are different. She proposes a new set of rules for her world and for ours. Those rules sound a lot like the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Be good to your neighbor.
Show others you care.
Speak kindly.
Rejoice with all colors of hair.
Make peace as you journey
So all understand
That life is more fun
Without lines in the sand.

Join us this Sunday to support our children and be blessed by their ministry. All are welcome to this time of worship. After the service, there will be a presentation by the author and a book signing in Asbury Hall. Ms. Sinke will be joined by illustrator Craig Pennington. Books will be available for purchase.

Shalom!
