All-Church Lenten Study
“24 Hours that
Changed the World” describes the 24 hours that began with
Jesus’ preparations for his Last Supper with his disciples
to his crucifixion and death on the cross. This will be our
study and worship focus for Lent 2010 at UUMC. The study by
Adam Hamilton will be offered during Lent in three venues
here at UUMC.
-
Thursday noon, beginning February 18th.
Led by Jayne Erickson
-
Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m., beginning February 21
-
T-N-T (20s & 30s)
Beginner’s Bible Study led by Rick Erickson
-
Pathfinder Class
for all others. Led by John Ross Thompson and
assisted by Dave Koski and others.
In addition, our pastors’
sermons during Lent will be based on the themes in the
book. You can use the book and devotional guide even if you
cannot attend the classes.
In this seven week study,
we’ll join Jesus at the Last Supper and then journey with
him to the Garden of Gethsemane, the court of the Sanhedrin,
before Pilate, the scourging by the Roman soldiers, and the
crucifixion. We will also join him in his victory over
death. Each session will have a video presentation which
includes taking us to those locations in modern day
Jerusalem. Whether you are
long-time Christians or simply curious about the story of
Christ's crucifixion, you are invited to join the author in
retracing the last 24 hours of Jesus' life. Therefore,
everyone at UUMC is encouraged to purchase Hamilton’s book
and 40 day Devotional guide to supplement and enhance
your class experience. They will be available beginning
February 10th at the church information desk or
in your class session. The hardcover study book and the 40
Days of Reflection devotional book set are discounted at $20
or they can be purchased separately: study book for $15,
and devotional for $10. All are invited to participate by
use of the study book and/or devotional and attending one of
the classes.
