Higher Education/Campus Ministry Work Area Minutes Monday, October 12, 2009 Christi Harris, Linda Good Mikols, Larry Switzer. Devotion: "Life's Simple Guide to GOD". Jesus is the way. Pursue other than your worldy home and be satisfied with what you have here on earth. Strive for meaningful loving relationships. 1. Football Parking. (Christi) Game is homecoming and starts at noon. Larry, JJ and Christi will get the horses and signs out at 7:15 a.m., Karen and Linda will join them at 8:00 a.m. Joe Mikols will come at 10:00 a.m. and work with Karen and Linda. Tim and Wesley students will take the afternoon shift. Christi will get the $300 in tens. Reports and review of our HiEd Program. A. Budget. (Christi) Since time are economically tough, we will ask for two Merit scholarships ($1000) and funds to support two peer ministers at Wesley ($2000). B. Goody Bag Sunday [December 13, 2009]. Monty will get out the bulletin announcements on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6. Goal is 50 bags. C. Have-A-Heart Brunch [February 7, 2010]. ( Linda) D. Connections Dinner We have had no input from Wesley at present so dates remain open. E. Merit Scholarships. (J.J. and Monty) The announcements about the scholarships will begin early in January. We have had one inquiry already about the program. Chris Darling will be asked for a list of graduating H.S. seniors so we can give each an individual notice. F. Methodist Universities and College information & Student Sunday. G. Student e-mail. (J.J.) JJ has received no new student church attenders this semester. The program should continue because it is important to make contact with first time attenders and the effort doesn't take much time. Usually we have a number of new students in the fall and the group wonders why student attendance, including Wesley students, has fallen off. H. Web Page. (Monty) Discussed briefly. Consensus was that the format was good and we should continue to include dates of events. Monty will revise the text. I. Next Meeting We will continue to meet on the second Monday of the month. Next meeting will be Nov. 9. Christi will be out of town for the next COM Oct 27. Karen Firos volunteered to attend in her place.
